After the success of the Nicholson 32 and 35 in the smaller segment, the Nicholson 55 had to give the yard a foothold in the larger segment. 26 units were built, 12 of which were purchased by the English Ministry of Defense as a training vessel. With 10 yachts, the navy is still sailing! They are built in different versions: sloop or yawl rigged, with rear or center cockpit and different sterns.
The Nicholsons 55 have proven their class in various illustrious sailing races, they are among the fastest in their class. This Nicholson 55 Yawl sailed the Fastnet Race and the Sidney to Hobart Race in 1996 and again the Fastnet Race in 1997 as part of a world trip, then testified as a sailing yacht. The current owner has refurbished the Nicholson 55 with its original yawl rig.
The full history of this Nicholson 55 Yawl is documented!
