Holly is a delightful and well cared for 50’ trad stern narrowboat built in 1989 by Gary Gorton & fitted out by Steve Goldsbrough and has only tywo owners since new. She offers a surprising amount of space for a 50’ boat and she has been well prepared for sale including a very recent blacking (end of August 2020) and a hull survey. This is available for viewing in the office.
She feels really cosy, fitted out in oak faced ply with oak trim and hallmark cross beams across the ceilings. Carpets below the gunwales and on the floor add warmth and charm.
The water tank is in the bows, and there is a huge amount of storage under the cratch covered well deck. There is a bench seat on the port side, and a collapsible chair and table on board for alfreso dining or chatting over a drink.
Steps lead down into the saloon. This houses a sofabed (cosy extra double berth), a solid fuel stove, a TV with satellite and a CD/Stereo with remote control. There are also cupboards and shelves for storage.
The galley follows and offers a four burner gas hob, oven & grill, a microwave oven, a fridge and a double sink with draining board. There is storage and work surface a-plenty.
A corridor on the starboard side leads aft, and the bathroom is on the port side. The loo is Porta Potti Excellence, and the curtained shower is over the bath. The basin is counter-sunk over a vanity unit.
The fixed double berth bedroom is next. The bed extends to 4’6” wide and has storage underneath all of it. A cupboard sits over the head end, and a huge double wardrobe at the foot end.
The aft cabin houses the engine, a Thorneycroft 110 in a tidy engine bay under the floor boards. The Vetus bowthruster aids navigation.
There is plenty of room in here and access to the engine is facilitated by removal of the casing boards. The calorifier is in this cabin with an airing cupboard above it, and the Alde gas boiler for the central heating is in here also. This also heats the hot water, as does the engine.
230v is supplied by the 2kw Victron inverter or the landline, 12v from the bank of 3 domestic batteries, and there is a new Galvanic Isolator on board, but it needs fitting. Lighting is mostly LED with some halogen. The water tank is integral.
Holly is a really charming boat and is well equipped for a beautiful home or extended cruising vessel.
