The Waterwacht was designed by De Vries Lentsch and built for the Bruynzeel family, who played a major role in several sailing classes in the Netherlands. For many years, the ship served as race committee ship and standby ship at several major sailing events, making the ship very well known in the Netherlands. The ship had a extensive refit in 2008 at Kooij Ship Operations. Afterwards, the vessel has been very carefully maintained.
