Located in the charming Noorderhaven, right in the center of Groningen, lies a truly distinctive vessel full of character: the cutter “STEADY, VK6”. Built in 1934 at the renowned Nicolaas Witsen & Vis shipyard in Alkmaar, this steel cutter represents the very best of Dutch shipbuilding craftsmanship. With her elegant lines, round bilges, and solid construction, she is a rare example of traditional maritime heritage, still in excellent condition.
The “STEADY” has a rich history. She once sailed from Groningen deep into Eastern Europe, and later even across the Baltic Sea—clear proof of her seaworthiness and reliability. She is powered by a four-stroke Kromhout GS 108 engine from 1956 (60 hp at 1000 rpm), running smoothly and powerfully, producing the characteristic sound appreciated by enthusiasts of classic marine engines. The engine has been fully overhauled and has since logged only approximately 500 operating hours.
The vessel measures 14.53 m in length, 3.89 m in beam, and has a draft of 1.72 m. With a displacement of approximately 38 tonnes, she is robust and stable. The hull has been blasted and treated with a two-component Sigma coating system, both above and below the waterline, in as-new condition.
The interior radiates warmth and craftsmanship, featuring oak paneling and a well-thought-out layout: wheelhouse with access to the engine room, comfortable midship and forward accommodation, two cabins, and two berths. The “STEADY” is equipped with Kabola central heating, a hot and cold water system, shower, electric toilet, galley with a four-burner gas stove and marine oven, and various tanks (1000 L fresh water, 600 L waste water).
Technically, the vessel is well equipped with, among others, a Mastervolt charger and inverter, AIS, Raymarine navigation system, Robertson autopilot, chartplotter, solar panel (340 W), and a 10 kVA Mitsubishi generator.
With her permanent berth in the Noorderhaven—one of the most beautiful locations in Groningen—the “STEADY” offers the best of both worlds: the tranquility of life on the water and the vibrancy of the city. A unique opportunity to own a piece of sailing heritage that is fully ready to cruise and move aboard immediately.
